Curtis Scrugham

Curtis has completed over 60 endurance events ranging from 5ks to a full marathon, from ultra centuries to week-long cross state rides, from sprint to 70.3 triathlons, including being a finisher of the 2012 70.3 World Championship in Las Vegas.  After retiring from the Air Force in 2012, he decided to pursue a career doing what he loved – endurance sports. He earned his M.S. degree in Exercise Physiology from UNLV in 2013, becoming an ACSM certified personal trainer, USA Cycling Level 2 coach and USA Triathlon Level 1 coach along the way.  He also recently became Utah’s only USAC Certified Power Based Training coach.

Curtis completed his first 5k when he was 35, and learned to swim at age 42 so he could complete his first triathlon.  He fully understands what its like to get a ‘late’ start in endurance sports, and also knows that with determination and patience, anything is possible.

​ The number one reason for DNFs in triathlons is going too hard on the bike, and the number two rule for time trials is ‘don’t go out too hard.’ Exactly what is ‘too hard?’ With a power meter you’ll know , and not just for triathlons and time trials, but any cycling event.
